Welcome to the Department of Botany
The Department of Botany was established in 1952 with its Under Graduate program in Botany. Post Graduate program was started in 1961. Since its establishment, the department has been functioning as a knowledge repository and a centre for advanced training in plant science. Department of Botany has stepped into active research in 2000 and conferred research centre status under the University of Kerala in 2015. The research centre known as Centre for Advanced Research in Botanical Sciences (CARBS) has received financial support for infrastructure development from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India through its FIST program. Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment is also supporting the centre through its SARD program. In addition, funding from UGC, SERB and KSCSTE through individual research projects supervised by the faculty has helped to improve the facilities and quality of research.
